“2nd Portuguese Meeting of C. elegans Researchers”

“2nd Portuguese Meeting of C. elegans Researchers”, 4th January 2010,
Oeiras, Portugal

The online registration for the “2nd Portuguese Meeting of C. elegans Researchers” is now open! This event will take place on the 4th of January 2010 at Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência in Oeiras, Portugal. The purpose of this meeting is to bring together Portuguese researchers - graduate students, post-docs and Principal Investigators - from all over the world, not only reinforcing networking within our country, but also setting the stage for a strong and collaborative C.elegans researchers’ community in Portugal (since the number of labs using this model organism has increased in the past few years).

The invitation to participate in this event extends to a wider scientific audience, as we would also like to provide researchers from other areas with a chance to be introduced to this extremely versatile biological system.

Dr. Marie-Anne Felix, from Institut Jacques Monod in Paris, France, will be the
Keynote Speaker of this meeting (see http://www.ijm.fr/ijm/recherche/equipes/nematode for more information about the Felix Lab).

We wish to encourage ALL participants to send a short description of their research projects and/or research interests even if they do not intend to submit an abstract for poster or oral communications; such descriptions are to be included in the abstracts book. The full format of the meeting has not yet been established and will depend on the number of presenters and presentation type.

The deadline for abstract submission is the 27th of November and participation is free of charge. You can register at www.luselegans.net. If you are already sure that you will be contributing to the meeting, please let us know as soon as you can, as this will make our job of organizing it easier. If you are still considering whether you will be able to join us, you will always find the most up-to-date information in the meeting’s website.

The success of this meeting depends on all of us! We look forward to hearing from you and hope that you will come! Feel free to send us any suggestions or concerns that you might have in the meantime.
