I am seeing some dark colored “specs” that looks star/crystal shaped on 8p plates containing 2XYT bacteria and N2 strain of worms. I am not sure if the growth is due to contamination or aging of the plates.
I did not notice the growth at the beginning of the week; however, by the end of the week where the plate looks starved, I noticed the growth.

you may be seeing star-shaped crystals (precipitation) from adding the post-autoclave Cholesterol, CaCl2, MgSO4 & KP buffer when the solution was too hot. Contamination is easy to tell apart from precipitation as the former will spread over the plate as the worms do.
Also, it is easy to miss the crystals if you take it for granted that they should not be there!
