Embryo handling buffer

In the in situ protocol in the worm methods section I stumbled over an “Embryo handling buffer” (EH Buffer).

Why is this buffer used? Does the buffer inhibit clumping?

If not, is there a treatment of embryos to decrease their clumping in solution?
