The Cram lab is a molecular biology and genetics lab that uses the nematode C. elegans to investigate the conserved processes that control cell migration and cell contractility in vivo. The lab technician will be a full member of the lab, participating in research and in lab management and organizational tasks. The job will include maintaining nematode, bacterial, and yeast stocks, making solutions, and organizing lab inventories and assisting with ordering and organization of supplies, assisting graduate students and Prof. Cram with ongoing research projects, conducting an independent research project, keeping excellent records, and presenting at lab meetings and at local scientific conferences. It is important that lab tech possesses an eagerness to learn new scientific ideas and methods and is able to follow instructions with precision. Position requires a BS or an MS in Chemistry, Biology, or a related field. Knowledge of molecular biology techniques, good organizational skills, and ability to work without extensive supervision are also required. Experience with C. elegans, or another genetic model organism, is desirable but not required. At least one year of lab experience required.
