I am in search of a worm strain for a teaching lab with dpy and unc autosomal mutations on different chromosomes. It would be most helpful for the phenotypes to be apparent so students can identify them but for the strain to be fertile and able to be propagated. Does anybody know or have a strain they are willing to share that fits these requirements? Thank you!
I don’t have anything growing, but I can recommend the following from the CGC - traditional chromosome assignment mapping strains:
MT3751 dpy-5(e61) I; rol-6(e187) II; unc-32(e189) III
MT464 unc-5(e53) IV; dpy-11(e224) V; lon-2(e678) X
(obviously, the second one has a sex-linked marker, in addition to the two autosomal ones)
The only real problem is that you can’t reliably (or at least easily) score Rol in Dpy, nor Lon in Dpy.
