Neurite termination

We know that some genes play a role in neurite termination in elegans like sax-1, sax-2, etc. Because when these genes are mutated, neurons tend to overextend and causes a phenomenon known as tiling.

But my question is can anybody throw some light about what exactly the cellular or molecular mechanisms occur in the neurite tips that cause this overextension?
