Pale worms

Hello,

I’m wondering what could cause the pale phenotype in worms besides reduced fat content.

I found this phenotype in my mutants and already did fat staining, but didn’t find any difference.

Any suggestions about which direction I should look at to decode this phenotype?

How pale are we talking about? Compared to what? I’ve found eat mutants to be pretty pale. I also recall egl-8 mutants to be pale as well, but I don’t know if that’s a defecation or eating defect (or both).

Maybe you’re seeing something like the clear phenotype?

it does sound like a generic malnutrition phenotype. clear mutants are worth looking at just because they look so neat on the DIC. but, they actually have a dark intestine when you look them on the dissecting scope.
