Postdoc in aging research, Hansen lab, La Jolla, CA

The Hansen lab at the Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute in La Jolla (San Diego, CA area) is looking for a highly independent scientist who would be excited to study conserved molecular mechanisms of organismal aging.

A key interest of our lab is the nutrient sensor and kinase TOR (Target Of Rapamycin), which is emerging as a key regulator of lifespan and healthspan. TOR regulates several important biological processes that could modulate aging, including protein synthesis and the cellular recycling process autophagy. We are currently investigating how TOR and such TOR-regulated processes contribute to the aging process in C. elegans. We are looking for a scientist with a Ph.D., preferentially with a background in biochemistry, to participate in these ongoing studies.
