Applications are invited for a Research Associate(s)/Postdoctoral Scientist(s) to join the group of Dr Philip Zegerman (Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellow), to work on the regulation of DNA replication in eukaryotes (http://www.gurdon.cam.ac.uk/research/zegerman). Our recent research has established molecular processes that are important for replication control not only in single cell cycles, but also during metazoan development (e.g Gaggioli et al J.Cell Biol 2014, Collart et al Science 2013 & Zegerman and Diffley, Nature 2010). We aim to build on these discoveries by recruiting outstanding individuals who are motivated to understand the molecular mechanisms of DNA replication control and the physiological significance of this regulation. Our research programme combines the power of model organisms, most notably budding yeast and C. elegans, with a wide range of biochemical and genetic tools.
Successful candidates will have a PhD in a relevant area and have proven evidence of scientific excellence and motivation through publications in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals. Expertise in a broad range of molecular biology techniques, in yeast biology or C. elegans techniques is essential. Previous experience in DNA replication and cell cycle control is desirable.
