Postdoctoral position (1 yr)
Job description:
We are looking to recruit a Postdoctoral scientist with a strong background in C. elegans molecular biology, biochemistry or physiology to conduct research in biogerontology. The one-year project will focus on the detailed functional characterization of the C. elegans glyoxylate cycle and its link to aging. The work will include hypothesis development, literature review, experimental design, collection of data, data processing, report writing, development of publications for peer-reviewed journals, and supervision of (under)graduate students.

Position requirements:

• Molecular cloning techniques
• C. elegans transgenics and general culturing techniques
• Biochemistry
• Bioinformatics

The Braeckman Lab:
The Braeckman Lab focuses on the molecular mechanisms of aging in Caenorhabditis elegans and is currently studying protein turnover, proteostasis, redox signaling and lifespan extension in axenic medium.
The lab also studies the function of C. elegans globins. The Braeckman Lab is localized at the Ledeganck campus of Ghent University, close to the historical city center of Ghent, Belgium. Belgium has a temperate maritime climate with cool summers and moderate winters. It is renowned for its medieval old towns, excellent cuisine and as a European political center.
