Postdoctoral Position in the Proteostasis Biosensors, Ageing and Disease

The McColl lab in the Florey Institute of Neuroscience at the University of Melbourne invites applications from highly motivated candidates for a postdoctoral position working on cutting-edge research in molecular biology & genetics.
Our laboratory uses a variety of genetic, biochemical, and molecular approaches to understand why cellular processes fail with age and how these changes impact on age-related diseases.
The central objective of this project is to build a new biosensor system that can quantitatively measure how efficiently protein homeostasis (proteostasis) is managed.
This Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP) funded project will use a multi-disciplinary approach, including use of C. elegans, and will provide excellent opportunities for a highly motivated scientist.

Position Requirements
Education: Ph.D. in molecular biology, genetics or related field is required.
Experience: Prior experience with C. elegans transgenics, including CRISPR/Cas9 is essential. Additional experience with confocal microscopy, including FRET would be advantageous; however, those with a strong background in molecular genetic and/or biochemical techniques are also encouraged to apply. Candidates should also be highly motivated and dedicated to research.

Position duration
The appointment is for 2 years, with scope for extension based on future funding success. The salary range is R01- RO3 commensurate with experience.

The Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health offers a collaborative social and scientific environment, as well as competitive salary and benefits in a dynamic location within the University of Melbourne campus.
If you are interested in joining the lab, please send a CV and a statement of your research accomplishments and interests along with the names of three references to: gmccoll@florey.edu.au, as well as submitting an online application
