The laboratory of Dr. Michelle Mondoux in the Department of Biology at the College of the Holy Cross is seeking applications for a full-time Research Associate for a three-year, NIH-funded project.
The Mondoux lab seeks to understand how a high-glucose diet impacts fertility in the model organism C. elegans. This position provides an excellent opportunity to scientific learning and develop research skills, as well as an opportunity to mentor undergraduate students.
The research technician will conduct an independent research project and will also assist in managing the laboratory on a day-to-day basis, including supply ordering and maintenance, reagent preparation, helping to train undergraduate research students, and supporting ongoing research projects.
The research projects in the lab focus on defining the cellular phenotypes and genetic pathways that regulate gamete survival and quality on a high-glucose diet. Techniques commonly performed in the laboratory include C. elegans manipulation and husbandry, genetic crosses, and cryogenic storage; DNA isolation, PCR, and DNA sequencing; and microscopy.
