Resistance/Sensitivity of C. elegans to BSO

Dear fellows

I am interested to know if anyone has ever done a BSO treatment (buthionine sulfoximine, an inhibitor of g-glutamylcysteine synthetase, the enzyme that synthesizes GSH) in C. elegans.
I would like to know for which doses BSO is lethal or deleterious to worms

Thanks a lot
Antonio

Hi ,

I know this is an old post. and probably by now you have done your experiment…

So if you or anyone has done a BSO treatment in C. elegans can you please send me the protocol to - sanjibcsu@gmail.com or post any weblink from where I can get relevant info…

Thanks a lot…

Hi Sanjib
PLease contact my student Nando at fmunlob@upo.es
HE might have performed a pilot experiment on BSO treatment.
Nevertheless, we have not done this experiment in a controlled careful manner so I will very much appreciate if you could please keep me posted on any approach in this direction you might take.
Certainly, we will try to optimize the protocol but we are in the process of moving the lab and have limited resources right now.
Please keep in touch
ALl the best
Happy 2012

Hi Dr. Antonio,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I will definitely conduct this exp to check the effect of BSO on my mutant of interest and also on WT N2. Thats why I am looking for protocol and the concentration info about BSO.

If I do it, I will surely let you know.

Thanks,
Sanjib
