What can look coding but doesn't appear to be?

If you look at the region of chromosome 2 that contains T06D8.1, T06D8.2 and T06D8.3 there appears to be a large number of unmatched WABA_coding hits outside the exons of these 3 genes.

WABA scores the blacks as having coding properties but splicing is poor and the availability of open reading frames is low.

This just seems like an interesting cluster.

Any info/theories on these would be useful.

There is another region somewhat like this on chromosome V between the exons of the CDS’s : Y39B6A.32, Y39B6A.29 and Y39B6A.24. These WABA regions do not score highly - typically they have a WABA score of between 30 and 50, as compared to the regions that Paul found which have strong scores of around 130.

If you look at the tiling aray expression data in this area, there are hints that these WABA regions might be expressed, but the WABA regions are so short that the expression data is not able to conclusively show expression.

There is also a lot of tandem repetitive sequence that corresponds to my set of WABA, whereas Paul’s set is much cleaner.

… and there is another smaller region of high-scoring coding-WABA regions between T04F3.1 and T04F3.2
