Two NIH-funded postdoctoral positions are available in the lab of Dr. Veerle Rottiers in the Department of Nutritional Sciences and Toxicology at UC Berkeley. One project is focused on exploring the genetics, genomics, molecular biology and biochemistry of sex specific differences in lifespan in C. elegans. The second project aims to understand the mechanism of action of the human obesity associated gene, MTCH2/mtch-1, which is a conserved regulator of lipid homeostasis. The research in the Rottiers lab is centered on understanding the molecular mechanisms of aging and lipid metabolism primarily using the model system C. elegans.
We are looking for talented postdoctoral candidates to lead and conduct the research on this projects, analyze data, participate in and present results at labmeetings and in discussions with the PI, mentor undergraduate students as well as write manuscripts.
Candidates must have completed all degree requirements except the dissertation of an accredited Ph.D or equivalent international degree program and have at least one first author paper in a peer reviewed international journal.
Send CV, contact info for three references and cover letter to rottiers@berkeley.edu
