Hi, does anyone have any idea on the approximate amount of total protein from one single adult worm? Thanks.
The data are clearly out there:
Worm dry biomass consists of roughly 60% protein, 20% lipids, 6.5% nucleic acids and 6% carbohydrates [34] (based on data from [35–38]).
See also Fig. 5 and other content in So, Miyahara, and Ohshima 2011, suggesting it’s about 1 ug and highly dependent on conditions. This is consistent with the above (assuming a worm total mass of very roughly two micrograms).
