We’ve recently been having some issues in the lab I work in with contamination moving between plates through M9, I suspect. I’ve been playing around with using filters as a method of synchronization and when I transfer worms onto a new plate in M9, these two (one?) different contaminations show up. I’ve put a link to two images at the end of this post.
I haven’t found anything conclusive from my rather preliminary searching around the internet, has anyone seen either of these before? Any ideas of how to get rid of them? I’ve been using a 10% bleach solution to clean my equipment and bench space that I utilize, which leads me to think it might be improper autoclave/sterile technique when aliquoting the M9.
