Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences, University of San Diego

The Department of Psychological Sciences at the University of San Diego seeks a tenure-track assistant professor in the area of Behavioral Neuroscience. The department currently offers an undergraduate major and minor in Psychology and an interdisciplinary major in Behavioral Neuroscience. The successful applicant will be expected to teach upper-division courses including Biopsychology, Behavioral Neuroscience, a neuroscience research lab, and specialty courses in his/her area of expertise, and potentially lower division courses such as Introductory Psychology or Research Methods. The typical teaching load is 3 courses per semester.
The department values a demonstrated commitment to both teaching and research, with a preference for applicants whose research program would involve undergraduate students. Candidates with experience working with students from diverse backgrounds are especially welcome to apply. We are particularly interested in applicants who could contribute to interdisciplinary research and teaching on campus, and who could forge connections with the greater neuroscience community in San Diego. All candidates should have completed a Ph.D. in Psychology or a related field by August 2013.
