controlled gene expression by Q system

hi all,
what are your experiences with the Q sytem in C. elegans to control temporal transgene expression? Since the publication of the Shen group
(http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22406855) one year ago, no more publication came up describing the functionality of this sytem. I want
to us this sytem, but in other tissues than published, and maybe also driven by ubiquitious promoters. What do you think?

All the best,
oldcoffee

Hi,

obvious question (but then it’s late here), but have you contacted the Shen group and asked if they have developed the system? A year is not very much and they might have started to use it in other tissues and with other promoters.
Might be worth a try in the absence of replies here.

Steve

Hey oldcoffee,

I’ve been using the Q system for a bit, and we’ve been able to use it under a bunch of different circumstances. We’re using it in a bunch of different tissues and it seems to work just fine! I’ve used it to express other things than fluorophores, too, with good results. Happy Q-ing!

hi dylan,
thank you for your reply…now i’m optimistic and will try the Q-ing!
