Correlation between % of agar and worm length

Hi,

Does anyone have information on the correlation between % of agar and C. elegans length?

Thanks,
Ethan

as in growing them on different media % and seeing if it changes them in size?

I don’t think so. As far as I know, food is the main environmental factor that can affect size.

I assume this question is spurred by the observation that worms grown in liquid culture become much longer. But as far as I know that difference is dichotomous: in liquid they become longer, on solid surface they grow the length we associate with a wild-type worm. An obvious point of regulation would be the Lon/Sma TGF-beta pathway, but I don’t know if anybody has done that.
