Our department is planning to purchase one or two new dishwashers. We are debating whether to go with an expensive and fast dishwasher that is specifically designed for scientific laboratory use, or with a high-end but still much less expensive residential dishwasher. Does anyone have experience using a residential dishwasher to wash lab glassware? We don’t think we will care about the increased cycle time, but the engineers here are concerned about whether a residential dishwasher will be ok hooked up to DI water input – I guess the concern is that DI water is a better solvent than tap water and they are worried a residential dishwasher will be damaged by the DI.
I’d appreciate any insight, pros/cons, recommendations on models that work well, etc.
Thanks!
Jen
