Elegans' operons.

Hi all,

I am new to the worm circuit - I did a Masters in Genetics 20 years ago and
am now doing a degree in Information Systems - my project (final year - gulp!)
is to show how Information and Communications Technology (ICT) has helped Molecular
Biology (sequencing, genome analysis &c.), and my intention is to use
C. elegans/Wormbase as a model, but I have a lot of questions - nobody to ask
here I’m afraid.

From here: The Genome Sequence of Caenorhabditis briggsae: A Platform for Comparative Genomics - PMC

it says

Operons, a distinctive feature of C. elegans,

What does this mean exactly? Aren’t operons present in Drosophila/other
Eucaryotes also?

Any pointers, tips, references, URLs appreciated (I would especially appreciate
material to which I can refer).

TIA and rgs,

Paul…

This is a cute article that might clear up some of your confusion.

Thanks, that explains the phenomenon nicely.
