F26D11.1 has an unusual 5' end

F26D11.1 is a conserved locus c.f. C. briggsae CBG08614,
remanei CRE27490, japonica CJA12219.

It has a very high level of expression in the first three exons and
expression decreases to moderately high in the last two exons.

These last two 3’ exons are clearly a CDS.

However, the 5’ three exons can not be made into a CDS in any of the orthologs.

In elegans the 5’ three exons does not have mass-spec evidence, so it is
unlikely to have a non-canonical initiation site. In elegans the 5’
region has a polyA site with a lot of supporting evidence.

What is this highly expressed 5’ region?
