Elections for the North America Drosophila Board of Representatives for 2025 are now open. The Fly Board (FlyBase:Fly Board - FlyBase Wiki) plays an important role in the Drosophila research community, so please read this message and candidate statements carefully and cast your vote (information on voting and candidates here 2025 Fly Board Election – Genetics Society of America)
Select the individuals who will represent the Drosophila community to further its interests in research, education, and public outreach. Voting will close on February 16, 2025.
The Fly Board’s duties include:
- Selecting the organizers and site for the North American Annual Drosophila Research Conference in collaboration with GSA Staff
- Overseeing Drosophila Trainee Awards, the Drosophila Service Award, the Drosophila Image Award, and the Larry Sandler Award
- Advocating on behalf of the Drosophila community to further research, education, and public outreach
The Fly Board is led by 22 elected representatives, including the President, President-elect, Past-presidents, the Treasurer, and several regional representatives from the United States, Canada, Latin America, Europe, Asia, and Australia/Oceania, one primarily undergraduate institution representative, and two early career representatives. Regional representatives serve three-year terms that will start immediately after the 66th Annual Drosophila Research Conference taking place March 19–23, 2025, in San Diego. The Board also has ex-officio members, including past-Presidents, meeting organizers, and community resource center representatives.
