GO and antiviral responses

In a new Nature Communications publication, Gillard et al. investigate antiviral responses, specifically in adolescents receiving a tetanus-diphtheria-acellular pertussis-inactivated poliovirus (Tdap-IPV) vaccine. After performing a gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA), Gillard et al. found antiviral and interferon response GO Terms were not only present in all tested subpopulations, but were the most strongly enriched terms. Read more about other signaling pathways that were enriched, as well as the full results including insights about the molecular host response to pertussis booster vaccination, at PubMed Central.

Above, figure 5D from Gillard et al.: Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) was used to calculate the normalized enrichment score (NES) of GO terms for each subpopulation using a list of all genes ranked by the log2-fold change over baseline (D1/D0)…Selected GO terms are shown (nominal p < 0.05) and those with FDR < 0.05 are highlighted with a black border.
