GO and...shelf life of lettuce

We regularly highlight various papers that have cited GO. Today’s highlight paper looks at a problem we’ve almost all noticed that seems minor but has immense economical consequences- the shelf life of lettuce.

In a new Scientific Reports publication, Chase et al. look at the genetic and morphological factors that influence the shelf life of lettuce. Among other methods, they used GO and PANTHER to help identify leaf traits and candidate genes that might serve as indicators of shelf life. Below, part of Figure 4C showing significantly enriched GO terms in differentially expressed genes between two lettuce cultivars.
