As a new year approaches, many groups update copyright and other dates on their sites. But when was the last time you checked your GO data versions?
If you use, provide, or relay any GO information, now is a great time to double check your GO data is current and cited correctly. As noted on the GO citation policy and license page, the GO release date should be in publications and provided to users.
Whenever using the GO and/or annotations in a publication, please cite the two papers below (the original paper describing GO, and our most recent update paper):
- Ashburner et al. Gene ontology: tool for the unification of biology. Nat Genet. 2000 May;25(1):25-9. DOI: 10.1038/75556 [abstract | full text]
