Dear Colleagues,
The International Mouse Phenotyping Consortium (IMPC mousephenotype.org) is an international effort by 21 research institutions to identify the function of every protein-coding gene in the mouse genome. The IMPC’s mission is to create a comprehensive, standardised catalogue of mammalian gene function that is freely available for researchers.
With the current resources, the IMPC, including the NIH-funded Knockout Mouse Phenotyping Program (KOMP2), will not be able to complete the in vivo functional annotation of the human orthologous genome in the mouse by the end of the current funding cycle. Additional funding will be required.
We have prepared a survey to:
- Ascertain the level of interest and enthusiasm of the scientific community in the IMPC continuing its production and phenotyping of knockout mouse lines for the remaining human orthologous genes in the mouse genome.
- Seek input on the scientific value of the consortium.
- Gather the community’s input on IMPC embarking on the production and phenotyping of different allele types other than knockouts.
We invite you to provide your answers to our survey which will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. You may use this link.
Additionally, we are looking for recommendations on other organizations/societies for us to contact about distributing the survey. Please email your suggestions to the IMPC Programme Manager, Popi Kostelidou (k.kostelidou@mousephenotype.org).
