Lab Manager/ Senior Research Technician to Study Aging in the Mair Lab

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with significant experience in molecular biology and biochemistry to join our dynamic research team. The lab studies the molecular mechanisms that underlie the aging process, using both mammalian cell culture and C. elegans, in order to develop novel therapies to treat age-related pathologies. The successful candidate will play an integral role in ongoing studies exploring nutritionally regulated signaling pathways in aging. Studies will employ molecular biology, fluorescent microscopy, Western blotting, engineering transgenic strains, quantitative RT-PCR, whole genome transcriptome analysis, and C. elegans longevity assays. The lab manager will be expected to be both an integral part of our team of researchers and support to the PI, actively participating in regular laboratory meetings, discussions, and publications. It is expected that s/he will contribute to the advancement of research projects central to the laboratory while at the same time advancing his or her research skills and development as a scientist. In addition to contributing to research endeavors, the incumbent will also be responsible for managing daily operations of the lab. Management duties will include ordering supplies and reagents, training personnel in specialized laboratory techniques and safety procedures, maintaining laboratory equipment, managing lab collections (plasmids, strains, RNAi library), monitoring all IACUC and COMS protocols, ensuring on target spending of grants and designating lab duties to keep lab running smoothly.
