Modeling Human Disease in C. elegans

The Bai Lab at the University of Florida (Gainesville), Department of Biology, is seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as a research technician. As a research technician in the Bai Lab, the candidate will help advance our research goals focused on modeling human diseases in the nematode model Caenorhabditis elegans. The candidate will be responsible for generating C. elegans strains using CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing technique, maintaining the lab strain collections, and assisting with various molecular experiments and genetic screening. The position will be one-year guaranteed, and possible for a second-year extension.

Qualifications:

The candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in biology or a related field. Strong knowledge and practical experience in molecular biology techniques are particular encouraged. Proficiency in CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing and working experience with C. elegans is highly desirable. The candidate should also have excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, and ability to work independently and as part of a team as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills.
