There are established groups working with the two major invertebrate models (Drosophila and Caenorhabditis) as well as groups working with mammalian cells, and with species chosen primarily for their evolutionary or ecological interest, including birds, butterflies and centipedes. Other areas of research strength within the Department embrace a wide range of disciplines, Including neurophysiology, behavioural biology, comparative genomics, evolutionary ecology, population biology, functional morphology and palaeontology.

Cambridge has a lively and thriving C. elegans community.

The successful candidate will combine excellence in research with a commitment to teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and will have demonstrated the ability to fund and lead an effective research group.
