Measuring body size

I’m a new research assistant working on worms for the very first time and I’m just about to inherit some experiments that involve measuring the body size of various mutant strains. Currently, our only reliable way of doing this is imaging one worm at a time and using ImageJ to draw a line down the center of the worm and measuring that. This approach takes a long time and severely limits the amount of work one can get done in a day. I also think that area would be a far better thing to measure and I know that there are computer-based methods for accomplishing this. I’ve done some research and I’ve found a number of possibilities for measuring multiple worms automatically but I don’t know what to do with what I have. Does anyone here on wormbase have any experience using FarSight? It’s designed to track worms (as I understand it) but it also gives you the area of the worm. Are there any other options? Thanks in advance for helping me out.
