Microscope Requirements and suggestions for isolating Nematodes

I am a high school teacher who has been isolating nematodes at the University of Washington for the last two summers and am applying for a grant for dissecting microscopes so my high school students can examine morphological characteristics as a part of our curriculum. I am looking for suggestions as the minimum requirements for the microscope at the least expensive price as well as a reliable product. If anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate it!

It’s a bit dated now, but Liz Ryder compiled the responses she received when she asked a similar question on Bionet.Celegans back in January 2008, and it can be read here.

I know that the Chinese company Motic makes a knockoff of the classic Wild M5A that’s cheap and that a fair number of people have bought - but I don’t really know how happy they’ve been with it (I’ve looked at worms with one briefly: it looked good, and great at the price - but an experienced worm person I know later told me that sustained use of a Motic scope gave them a headache).
