naive question

For transgenic animals, does “Is” mean that the injected plasmid was integrated into chromosome and “Ex” mean extra chromosome in their genotypes? I know this question is very naïve to many of you, but hope for your answer to clear my mind.

Additionally, can anyone explain what the rules are to describe the genotype for a transgenic animal?

That’s correct, Ex is extrachromosomal and Is is integrated. For further reading see:
