Neutral gene for RNAi

Hi,

I am searching for a neutral gene for my RNAi studies . I just want to know if there are any genes that dont show any phenotype at all. I am aware of the fact that the control strain for RNAi is HT115, but the problem with me is the climate at my place is still hot and am afraid of ordering it from CGC. So i would be obliged if anybody could suggest me some neutral genes. i would also be interested to know about the pros and cons. or would be better to wait for HT115.

Thanks

HT115 is the standard bacterial strain used for essentially all feeding RNAi experiments. When you see people testing an RNAi treatment and using HT115 as a control, HT115 is in both samples, the experimentally treated one and its control; they mean that in the control they are using HT115 with no RNAi plasmid.
Probably the most common “neutral” RNAi control used is gfp RNAi, because it’s known to be effective (on animals transgenically expressing gfp) and not known to target any endogenous C. elegans genes.

(Edited to add: This topic probably should not have been posted in the “Job Topics” area)

We’ve found that the predicted pseudogene C06C3.5 causes no phenotypes in our RNAi experiments. I know it’s in the Vidal lab library.

This section is for job.
