The Department of General Pediatrics, Neonatology and Pediatric Cardiology at the Heinrich-Heine University, Duesseldorf, Germany,
is offering a position for a Postdoctoral Fellow (TVL-E13) in mitochondrial research.
Our research laboratory has a long-lasting expertise in studying biochemical processes related to inherited metabolic diseases. In 2006, a research group with focus on
mitochondrial diseases was established. Respiratory chain disorders are a heterogeneous group of neurodegenerative diseases with a poor prognosis and very limited treatment options.
To investigate the underlying disease mechanisms, we use different cell culture conditions and the nematode C. elegans as model systems
(see publications: Distelmaier et al., Brain [2009], Koopman, Distelmaier et al., EMBO J [2013], etc.).
Applicants should have a MD or PhD or equivalent doctoral degree with at least 3 years of documented research experience in Molecular Biology, Developmental Biology or Biochemistry.
Prior experience with in vivo technologies is advantageous. The position offered here is initially limited to one year with an option for extension.
Complete application documents (including CV, motivation letter, publication list and two references – all documents within a single PDF file) should be addressed
via email to Felix Distelmaier: felix.distelmaier@med.uni-duesseldorf.de
