Position: Senior Postdoc/ Group leader at Freiburg University

The Institute of Biology III (Prof. Ralf Baumeister, Bioinformatics & Molecular Genetics) at the University of Freiburg advertises the following position:

Senior postdoc/assistant professorship (Akademische Rätin/Akademischer Rat im Beamtenverhältnis auf Zeit A13)

initially for three years (can be extended), starting at November 01, 2018.
You have already postdoc experience and want to contribute to our research and teaching program (Genetics/biochemistry/neurobiology/bioinformatics, preferred with C. elegans, human cells, etc. ) with own ideas, and develop your own research profile towards habilitation (eligibility for a call to a chair). We provide a fully equipped lab and expect the participation in running and future research cooperations, and, in the long run, the acquisition of own third party funding. A moderate level of teaching (Bachelor: in German or English; Masters, PhD: English) is expected.
We are looking for highly motivated researchers with a strong background in C. elegans or other models to study intracellular dynamics and their effect on age-related mechanisms, stress signalling, and tumorigenesis. A background in biochemistry/genetics with bioinformatics is preferred. Funding is initially secured for three years.
Our lab provides an interdisciplinary environment and hosts researchers of seven countries. Lab language is English. We are affiliated with two SFB/CRC research consortia (tumor biology, protein dynamics) and two Graduate Schools in Biomedicine. The group belongs to both the Faculty of Biology (Institute of Biology III) and the Faculty of Medicine (ZBMZ –Center for Biochemistry and Molecular Cell Research). Lab members have access to facilities and grant opportunities of both faculties. The lab is also involved in the University programs (BIOSS, SGBM) funded by the German excellence initiative. The successful candidate will receive the benefits of a governmental officer (A13Z).
The University of Freiburg is one of the top universities in Germany, its Life Sciences are always found among the top positions in national rankings.
