The recently established laboratory of Nicola Silva seeks a Postdoctoral Fellow to join a research team focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms driving DNA double-strand break (DSB) repair during meiotic progression, with a particular emphasis on how certain post-translational modifications regulate these pathways. We have generated several tools, including functional tagged lines of pro-DSB factors, which will be exploited to identify new players involved in DSB formation through biochemical approaches. Dr. Silva is a faculty member at the Masaryk University, Departmend of Biology, Brno (Czech Republic). The position is awarded initially for 1 year and is renewable up to 3 years upon assessment.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. holders who have not received the Ph.D. before 1. 1. 2012
- A track record of productivity with peer-reviewed publications
- Willingness to travel and present the research outcomes at international conferences
- Hands-on mentality, able to troubleshoot and find creative solutions
- Autonomous thinking
Preferred experience/knowledge/skills:
- Experience with advanced microscopy
- Strong background in genetics and biochemistry
- Previous knowledge on meiosis and DNA repair pathways is highly desirable
