PostDoc at CSHL in the Hammell Lab

The Hammell lab at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory invites applications from highly motivated candidates for a postdoctoral position working on cutting-edge research in molecular biology & developmental genetics. This position is NIH-funded. Contact me directly at chammell@cshl.edu

Our laboratory uses a variety of genetic, biochemical, and molecular approaches to understand how the activity of microRNAs is modulated in response to developmental and environmental cues and how oscillatory gene expression contributes to normal temporal cell fate specification during development. The cross-disciplinary approach and application of a range of model systems (including C. elegans, D. melanogaster, and human tissue culture) in the Hammell lab will provide training and various opportunities for a highly motivated scientist.

Representative studies from our lab include:

Kinney B, Sahu S, Stec N, Hills-Muckey K, Adams DW, Wang J, Jaremko M, Joshua-Tor L, Keil W, Hammell CM. (2023) A circadian-like gene network programs the timing and dosage of heterochronic miRNA transcription during C. elegans development. Dev Cell. 58(22):2563-2579.e8.

Stec, N., Doerfel, K., Hills-Muckey, K., Ettorre, V.M., Ercan, S., Keil, W., and Hammell, C.M. (2021). An Epigenetic Priming Mechanism Mediated by Nutrient Sensing Regulates Transcriptional Output during C. elegans Development. Curr Biol 31, 809-826 e806.

Position Requirements
Education: Ph.D. in molecular biology or related field is required.
Experience: Prior experience with model organisms is advantageous; however, those with a strong background in molecular genetic and/or biochemical techniques are also encouraged to apply. Candidates should also be highly motivated and dedicated to research.

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory offers a highly collaborative social and scientific environment and a competitive salary and benefits in a beautiful location about one hour from New York City.
If you are interested in joining the lab, please send a CV and a statement of your research accomplishments and interests along with the names of three references to: chammell@cshl.edu
