Postdoctoral Research Fellow,
Behavioural Genomics Group
(3 Year fixed term)
£30,916 - £41,674 pa inclusive London, UK
Applications are invited for a 3-year postdoctoral research position in the Behavioural Genomics group at the
MRC Clinical Sciences Centre (CSC) at the Hammersmith Hospital campus of Imperial College London. The CSC
provides an outstanding environment for interdisciplinary research with excellent core support. For a
description of the institute and details of core facilities, visit www.csc.mrc.ac.uk.
The Behavioural Genomics group is headed by Dr André Brown in the new Integrative Biology section of the
CSC. The group’s research is aimed at understanding how genome variation affects behaviour in the nematode
worm C. elegans, with an emphasis on how high-throughput imaging and quantitative analysis can open new
ways of exploring the genotype-phenotype map.
We are looking for a highly-motivated and creative scientist who can take full advantage of a next-generation
worm tracking system to study the quantitative genetics of complex behavioural traits. The successful
applicant must hold a PhD in a relevant discipline and have expertise in worm genetics. Experience with
quantitative genetics, imaging, computer vision, and/or data mining are desirable but not essential.
This post is a Career Development Fellowship to support post-doctoral scientists in early or changed career
training and help establish them as successful research scientists in their chosen field. We offer a highly
attractive benefits package including competitive salary and final salary pension scheme.
