Postdoctoral Fellow Opportunity – Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory – Long Island, NY
The Hammell lab in the Cancer Center at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory invites applications from highly motivated candidates for a postdoctoral position working on cutting-edge research in molecular biology & genetics.
Our laboratory uses a variety of genetic, biochemical, and molecular approaches to understand how the activity of microRNAs is modulated in response to developmental and environmental cues and how oscillatory gene expression contributes to normal temporal cell fate specification during development. The Hammell lab’s cross-disciplinary approach and application of various model systems (including C. elegans) will provide training and opportunities for a highly motivated scientist.
This project will span molecular and developmental genetics to structural biology and protein function. This project will focus on how a newly discovered molecular clock regulates transcriptional dynamics of conserved regulatory RNAs. This is an excellent opportunity to work with another cutting-edge structural biologist at CSHL, Leemor Joshua-Tor (HHMI), as a shared NIH R01 grant between our labs fully funds this position.
Position Requirements
Education: Ph.D. in molecular biology or related field is required.
Experience: Prior experience with model organisms is advantageous; however, those with a strong background in molecular genetic and/or biochemical techniques are encouraged to apply. Candidates should also be highly motivated and dedicated to research.
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory offers a highly collaborative social and scientific environment, competitive salary, and benefits in a beautiful location about one hour from New York City.
If you are interested in joining the lab, please send a CV and a statement of your research accomplishments and interests along with the names of three references to chammell@cshl.edu as well as submit an online application here: http://cshl.peopleadmin.com/postings/13341
