Postdoc position in the Taubert lab, UBC/CMMT Vancouver

Funding is available in for a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Taubert lab. This is a new lab opening March 1st 2009 at the Centre for Molecular Medicine and Therapeutics (, a Centre affiliated with the University of British Columbia (

We use C. elegans and mammalian cell culture to study transcriptional regulatory networks that affect metabolism, stress responses, and developmental processes. The lab employs a multidisciplinary approach using genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, and imaging. Our research focuses on the Mediator, a conserved multi-protein machinery that regulates transcription. The C. elegans Mediator subunit MDT-15 affects transcription of genes involved in lipid biology and nutritional stress responses. Several projects are available characterizing the regulation of C. elegans MDT-15, dissecting its genetic and physical interactions, and studying the functions and targets of human MED15 in tissue culture.

We are looking for enthusiastic, self-driven, independent thinkers with strong interpersonal skills, who share our love for science. Experience with C. elegans is a strongly preferred, but not absolutely necessary. Candidates must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree.

Earliest start date is March 1st 2009. Interested applicants should submit their CV (including contact information of three references) and a statement of research interests to and
