Postdoc position in the Taubert lab, UBC/CMMT Vancouver

Funding is available in for a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Taubert lab. This is a new lab opening March 1st 2009 at the Centre for Molecular Medicine and Therapeutics (www.cmmt.ubc.ca), a Centre affiliated with the University of British Columbia (www.ubc.ca).

We use C. elegans and mammalian cell culture to study transcriptional regulatory networks that affect metabolism, stress responses, and developmental processes. The lab employs a multidisciplinary approach using genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, and imaging. Our research focuses on the Mediator, a conserved multi-protein machinery that regulates transcription. The C. elegans Mediator subunit MDT-15 affects transcription of genes involved in lipid biology and nutritional stress responses. Several projects are available characterizing the regulation of C. elegans MDT-15, dissecting its genetic and physical interactions, and studying the functions and targets of human MED15 in tissue culture.

We are looking for enthusiastic, self-driven, independent thinkers with strong interpersonal skills, who share our love for science. Experience with C. elegans is a strongly preferred, but not absolutely necessary. Candidates must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree.

Earliest start date is March 1st 2009. Interested applicants should submit their CV (including contact information of three references) and a statement of research interests to taubert@cmp.ucsf.edu and taubert@cmmt.ubc.ca.
