Regulatory networks of homeobox transcription factors in development

The laboratory has developed life spatio-temporal recording techniques using GFP reporter strains to examine expression patterns of genes in embryogenesis (see e.g., Hunt-Newbury et al., PloS Biol. 2007, e237, and movie at Research Group Thomas Bürglin). We are presently dissecting the promoter regions of selected genes to identify the upstream regulators and to establish regulatory networks that give rise to specific cell fates. The research provides exciting opportunities as it interfaces molecular biology, advanced imaging as well as bioinformatics.

Applications are welcome from candidates that have experience in genetics of model systems, in particular C. elegans, as well as cell- and molecular biology. Good communication skills in English are essential.
The applicant’s Ph.D. degree should not be older than 3 years.
The position is available for one to two years, with possibilities of extension.
