Postdoctoral Opportunity in the Fay Lab at Wyoming

POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE - #4864 in Molecular Biology: Dr. David Fay is seeking a motivated postdoctoral scientist to join his research group in the Department of Molecular Biology at the University of Wyoming (David S. Fay |University of Wyoming). The successful candidate will work independently and with other team members on NIH-funded projects involving the molecular and genetic control of C. elegans development with emphasis on cell biology, signal transduction, protein trafficking, and cell-matrix interactions.

The minimal qualifications are a Ph.D. and training in laboratory methods of Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Developmental Biology, Cell Biology, or a closely related field, primary publications in refereed, English language journals, strong written communication skills, and strong professional references. Preferred qualifications are working laboratory experience with methods relevant to the genetics, cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and developmental biology of metazoan model organisms. Essential duties will be to independently and collaboratively conduct laboratory experiments, primarily in the C. elegans system, as needed to complete NIH-funded projects designed to understand the molecular and genetic control of animal development. Specific duties will include: C. elegans genetic manipulation including the use of transgeneic and CRISPR/Cas9 methods; phenotypic analysis of C. elegans strains at the organismal, cell biological, and molecular levels; cell biological studies including the use of confocal microscopy and quantitiative analyses; DNA recombinant methods and plasmid cloning; biochemistry including western blotting, protein purification, and protein interaction studies; whole genome sequencing and other high-throughput sequencing methods and analysis; and manuscript preparation in cooperation with the P.I. Once trained, the successful candidate will be responsible for training other laboratory personnel, as needed. For more information or to apply for this position, please send a cover letter describing your scientific background, interests, and qualifications, plus a curriculum vitae and contact information for three professional referees. Documents should be combined into a single PDF file and should include PDFs of relevant publications. Applications should be sent to: davidfay@uwyo.edu.
