Postdoctoral position in epigenetics and gene regulation at Institut Pasteur

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral positions in the laboratory of “Mechanisms of Epigenetic Inheritance” headed by Dr. Germano Cecere in the Department of Developmental and Stem Cell biology at Institut Pasteur in Paris. The successful applicant will start by January 2016 and will contribute to our research projects on the characterization of RNA-based mechanisms of epigenetic inheritance during animal development.

In our Laboratory we are using C. elegans as model system to achieve a deep mechanistic understanding of the biological functions of nuclear RNA interference (RNAi) pathways in epigenetic inheritance in animals.
We are integrating genetic, biochemical, and molecular biology tools with a wide range of cutting edge techniques to study chromatin and epigenetic regulations, which include: GRO-seq, ChIP-seq, RNA-seq and small RNA-seq, iCLIP, RNA and protein purification coupled with mass spectrometry.

We are located at Institut Pasteur in Paris, which has a long-standing history of excellence in science, and is providing an excellent international scientific environment with experts in the fields of molecular, developmental, and computational biology, and state-of-the-art core facilities, including proteomics, high throughput sequencing, and imaging technologies.

Qualifications
We are looking for highly passionate and motivated science-driven candidates holding a Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or any related area of Life Science, with at least one first-author publication published or in press in peer reviewed international journals. Candidates with strong experimental expertise in biochemistry, molecular biology, high throughput sequencing technologies and bioinformatics analysis are desired. Previous experience with C. elegans model would be an asset, but not essential. Successful applicants are expected to work in an interdisciplinary team, managing multiple tasks, having good organizational skills, and willingness to work outside their core expertise. Good knowledge of both spoken and written English is required.

Salary
Salary will follow the guidelines for postdoctoral fellowships of the Institut Pasteur.
