Postdoctoral Position in Molecular and Cellular Neurobiology in Paris

A 2-year post-doctoral position is available at the ENS in Paris starting January 2010 to analyze the cellular biology of the synapse in the model organism C. elegans. Specifically, our group has identified two components of a novel extracellular scaffold which ensures synaptic clustering of acetylcholine receptors (Gally et al, Nature 2004, 431, 578-82; Gendrel et al, Nature, in press). The goal of the current project is to identify further mechanisms and components involved in the differentiation of cholinoceptive post-synaptic domains by combining genetic, biochemical and imaging strategies.

Our laboratory is part of the biology department at the Ecole Normale Superieure, which is home to a number of active groups focused on neurobiology and development, and provides a stimulating international working environment. The Ecole Normale Superieure is located in a very lively area in the historical center of Paris. For more information on our research interests and research environment, please visit our web site www.biologie.ens.fr/bcsgnce/.

Previous experience with C. elegans is not essential but would be a plus. European and non-European citizens are eligible.

To apply, please send your CV, statement of research interest and names of three references with phone numbers to:
