Postdoctoral position in RNA biology of stem cells, Yale University

The Van Wolfswinkel Lab [www.vanwolfswinkellab.org] at Yale University is seeking a driven and creative postdoctoral associate to join our group. We are a young and collaborative NIH-funded lab that continues to develop innovative molecular approaches to address fundamental questions concerning stem cell health, regulation of cell fate, and cell population dynamics in their endogenous context. We are particularly interested in the molecular processes involved in the long-term maintenance of pluripotency and in the transition towards differentiation. Several lines of evidence have suggested important roles for non-coding RNAs (piRNAs and lncRNAs) and chromatin organization in these processes, and the planarian stem cell system is an excellent model to explore these further.

We are looking for a highly motivated molecular biologist with an interest in stem cell research and an inclination for technological development. Successful candidates have recently obtained a Ph.D. in a relevant field and should have experience with at least two of the following: biochemistry, RNA biology, chromatin biology, epigenetics and/or transcriptomics analysis. Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as strong problem solving skills are required.

The Van Wolfswinkel Lab is part of the department of Molecular Cellular and Developmental Biology, and forms a dynamic environment for scientific collaborations and growth. We are located on Science Hill, in close proximity to the other Yale science departments and many core facilities. Yale university offers a competitive salary and benefits package in a city with affordable living expenses. Conveniently located between Boston and New York, New Haven is the creative capital of Connecticut with cultural resources that include major museums, a critically-acclaimed repertory theater, state-of-the-art concert hall, and world-renowned schools of Architecture, Art, Drama, and Music.

To apply, please send a CV (including names and contact information of three references) and a cover letter explaining your experience and your motivation to Josien van Wolfswinkel (josien.van.wolfswinkel@yale.edu).
