Job Description: The available position is part of the prestigious Eyes High Postdoctoral Fellowship program, awarded to the Dr. Maja Tarailo-Graovac group at the University of Calgary. For the Eyes High Postdoctoral Fellowship, we are seeking a highly motivated research fellow (PhD, MD or MD/PhD) with strong interest in deciphering genetic modifiers of a subset of rare diseases that are due to defective centriole function, resulting in microcephaly in particular. The model system employed in our group is Caenorhabditis elegans . The ideal candidate will have strong interest in developing their own research program, ideally bringing in C. elegans expertise and strong interest in molecular understanding of centrioles, while learning high throughput genomics/bioinformatics approaches.
This full-time fully funded position (2 years + possibility of extension) with the University of Calgary, Cumming School of Medicine offers the candidate a unique opportunity to be exposed to the multidisciplinary team with potential of direct translation of the findings to patients with rare genetic diseases related to centriole dysfunction.
