The Ben-Yakar Lab (Ben-Yakar Group : Femtosecond Laser Assisted Biophotonics) at The University of Texas at Austin is seeking one Postdoctoral Scholar to lead an NIH-funded project.
In this project, we are studying genetic mechanisms driving nerve regeneration in C. elegans using single neuron RNA-sequencing.
We recently developed a new laser microdissection method that enabled us to isolate single neurons from living C. elegans.
This novel method allows us to correlate gene expression with phenotypic information of the isolated neurons during regeneration.
Qualification
Ideal candidates will have a Ph.D. in relevant fields (neurobiology, genetics, bioengineeringetc.) and a strong interest in working in an interdisciplinary environment
using advanced technologies (laser axotomy, high-speed confocal microscopy). Expertise in C. elegans, molecular biology (qPCR, RNA-seq.), and microscopy are highly desired.
Prior experience with bioinformatics analysis will be an advantage but not required.
Appointment & Application
The appointment will initially be for 2 years with the possibility of extension. Interested candidates should email a cover letter describing their research, CV, and three references
to Dr. Adela Ben-Yakar at ben-yakar@mail.utexas.edu.
