Hi! We have currently the problem in our lab that the company that produced the nitrogen cells for our VSL-337ND-S Nitrogen Laser stopped production. We need this laser to perform cell ablation experiments in J2 staged juveniles. Therefor we need to get a new laser unit that is comparable to the old one and is able to excite the Coumarin 440 dye in our micropoint unit that connects the laser to the microscope. Did anyone have the same problem? Or does anyone have a suggestion about what other laser would be suitable?
I am very grateful for any suggestions.
Thank you!
A good place to start is Leon Avery’s description of his laser ablation system:

When I did laser experiments in Jim Thomas’ lab way back when, we had a different kind of laser, but I don’t remember the brand. Anybody else?
Our plasma cartridge went out about a year ago. We sent out our VSL-337 ND to this company: http://www.337nm.com/VSL-337ND_LaserInnovations.htm. They replaced the cartridge in about a week. Not cheap, and very limited warranty.
sincerely,
Rene
Stanford Research Systems (SRS) makes a N2 laser that might be a good replacement (5K). Curious, how much did they charge to replace the cartridge?
